The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has announced an inaugural competition celebrating the craft and innovation in hunting tools – the ‘Best Hunting Knife‘ contest. This initiative aims to stimulate creativity among individuals and companies producing hunting equipment, inviting them to present groundbreaking knife designs that contribute to the world of hunting. The competition is envisioned as a platform for knowledge exchange, attracting an expanded base of visitors and buyers, and further solidifying professional and commercial relationships between manufacturers, artisans, and traders.

ADIHEX introduces first-ever Best Hunting Knife competition

Participants from across the globe are invited to take part in the ‘Best Hunting Knife’ competition, with only one requirement – the knife must be produced in either 2022 or 2023 and be on display during the exhibition. Organized by the Emirates Falconers’ Club, the 20th edition of ADIHEX will run from 23rd to 29th August, 2023. The event is sponsored by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC), and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), which is the chosen venue. Other partners include Caracal International LLC, and various international associations and foundations dedicated to falconry and conservation.

The competition seeks designs that deliver functionality, comfort, and aesthetic appeal to hunting enthusiasts. The ideal hunting knife would be easy to carry, store, and use, providing value to falconers by reducing effort and adapting to the outdoors. Judges will evaluate entries on multiple parameters including efficiency, quality, durability, safety, hand protection, versatility of uses, and resistance to weather conditions. The design should incorporate cultural heritage, especially in the handle, and be reasonably priced for easy acquisition.

Historically, hunting knives of various types and sizes have held a central place at ADIHEX. These essential tools for hunting, camping, and road trips hold a unique cultural significance, continuing to be widely used today. With the competition, ADIHEX aims to honor this tradition while promoting innovation in design, use of materials, and production techniques. Mohammed Al-Amiri, CEO of Tamreen, a UAE company renowned for crafting hunting knives, stresses the value of participating in ADIHEX, which offers a unique opportunity for businesses, manufacturers, and hunting enthusiasts to convene.
